Nightmare!

Well my time has come. I got laid off! I joined the banwagon of thousands of Americans that have lost their job. Not too proud of it. I knew the time was coming soon since I work for a construction company and things aren't looking that great for construction. Although, I knew my days were close to being counted, I didn't want to look for another job because I wanted my nice little check that came along with a lay off versus no check with a quit. Get it? So when my boss called me into his office today, I already knew what he was going to tell me. I cried like a sucker! I have never gotten fired or laid off in my life. I felt rejected. I have been with this company for about 5 years so my office was like my little home. I had soooo many personal things in there. It took a while to clean out my office but my friend helped me. I cried some more. and some more. and then some more. And then once I called my hubby, I cried more. When I saw him and he hugged me, I cried even more. I was a crying mess!!! lol. But I feel so much better because I of course have to look at the bright side of things. Now this opens the door of opportunity for me to get a job in my field. I have a degree in Psychology and I am not using it. I needed that push to get out of my comfort zone and start my new life. :)

Bride Wars

I loved it!
There were many mixed reviews on this movie. Some girls loved it and some hated it. I thought it was cute. But then again...anything that has to do with weddings, love and bestfriends is always cute to me. PLUS it made me laugh.
Mr. JL didn't want to see it when it came out in the movies but he sure watched it with me right now. And guess what??? He liked it too. Ha! Shhh! He was laughing and everything.
So if you haven't seen it yet and love all those girly movies...watch it. You'll like it.

Hotel for Dogs

If you don't know this by now...the hubs and I LOVE to watch movies. We mostly like to watch movies that make us laugh. We do not have children of our own but that doesn't mean that we can not watch kid movies. We actually love 'em! Last night on PPV (Pay Per View), I told my husband that there was two new movies. Bride Wars (which I have been dying to watch...review coming soon) & Hotel for Dogs. He immediately said...Hotel for Dogs. We watched it last night and we thought it was an adorable movie. We laughed. We got teary eyed. We laughed some more and we recommend it to ALL. It's a cute family movie. If you do have kids, your kids will love it!!!

Life

I haven't done one of these in a long time.

"Life is not easy for any of us, but what of that? We must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves." -Marie Curie
Sparkpeople Translation: "We all come across obstacles, some anticipated and some unexpected. Every last one of us has faced some sort of difficulty in our lives. How did you approach this? Did you avoid it, allowing the problem to get bigger? Or did you go at it with full force, ready to conquer it? Perhaps once in a while an obstacle will disappear on its own, but don’t count on it. Usually, it’s going to come down to you to make it happen. But with hard work and the right attitude, you have everything you need to reach those goals. Try and look forward to the next time a roadblock comes your way; instead of an obstacle, think of it as a challenge. Then get after it!"

Here's Johnny

A few weeks ago I took some pictures of Johnny. I never posted them on here. I hope you love them as much as I do. On Saturday mornings, he usually likes to stay outside sunbathing. This is how I always find him.He can actually sleep in that position. When he is exhausted...he always makes it to the bed first then us. And for some reason always goes to the hubs side of the bed.

He is a character, I tell you. I have always been raised with dogs in our families but having Johnny for ourselves is like having a baby. He is our child. We kiss him good bye every time we leave the house, we spoil him with new toys and treat him like the king. He truly is an amazing dog. He behaves so well. All he demands is some time to play catch, TLC, sleepy time with us, sunbathing in the weekends, and of course some yummy treats.

I am here in front of my computer at work fighting my sleep.

Why does it only have to be 2:30? Why can't it be 4:59? I want to go home. I want to take a shower and go straight in our bed and SLEEP. I am so tired.

::::yawn::::::

OK sorry friends...hope I didn't pass my yawn to you. Thanks for letting me whine just a little bit.

Friend Makin Monday

Hello Friends!!!
IT's
I am a little late today for Friend Making Monday. I had a day off from work today due to Memorial Day BUT I tagged along with the hubs for his work. I helped him out alot and we were able to get done quick. yay!

For those of you who do not know what this is ALL about, you can find out HERE.

This week over at ALL THAT IS GOOD, the question is: How did you and your significant other meet? and if you don't have a significant other at the moment then what would be your dream way to meet him?

**By the way...its Kasey's 7 year anniversary...Happy Anniversary Kasey!!!! I wish you many many more years!!!
(this above picture was taken on 12.27.06 on my cousin Tiffy's 15th Bday Dinner)
We both worked at the same company but had no idea. Or should I say, we saw each other around a few times but didn't know who we were. Well that same week, we went to a Christmas Lunch that our department was having at El Novillo in Miami Lakes. I got there first and went straight to the restroom to wash my hands...as I got back to my table, I noticed a "new" face. I quickly asked the girls who he was. He was the new one in our office. We sat directly in front of each other and we couldn't keep our eyes off of one another. He was talking the entire time with a co worker about me and I was talking about him to my friend/coworker about him. lol. We spoke the entire time of that lunch. It was love at first sight. So cliche...but seriously I thought he was amazing. The days passed by fast and on Friday of that week (12.15.06) my friends from work found a way for him to attend our companies Christmas party at the Rusty Pelican (since he was new, he wasn't included). The moment he arrived to the party he came up to our group and we didn't stop talking. From that moment on, we sat next to each other, danced the night away, talked years worth (lol) and took a ton of pictures together. When the party ended, we still wanted to hang out because it was still too early (12am) lol and so we went in our separate cars and drove to Lincoln Road Mall. We walked around and ended up sitting in a cute little restaurant/bar. We ordered some wine and didn't stop talking till the place closed down. It was so innocent yet sooo perfect!!! We even walked in the rain to our cars in slow motion, as if it wasn't raining.
So my friends....after our PERFECT first date/meeting we have been together ever since.
09.17.07 we got engaged
08.16.08 we got married
And we are now living happily ever after!!!!!
I LOVE YOU MR. JL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday TIAAAA!

Today is my Tiaaaa's birthday!!! My aunt is not a typical aunt. I consider her more like my older sister. I grew up living with her all the way till I turned 9 years old. So we pretty much grew up together. She is about 9 years older than me but it sure doesn't feel like it.

Some great memories we share...we always talk about when I was younger (6 yrs old) I gave her a big chichon (bump on her head) because she wanted to watch a soap opera and I was watching my cartoons. lol. She was there when I was 3 yrs old and I bumped my head & got stitches. I was there when she had her first daughter (I was 10). I learned all about babies through my mom and my aunt. They let me help them out so much. I was there for her when she became single after many years of being in a relationship. I was already older so our relationship became more like best friends. We would go clubbing, go to the beach, have many dinner together. It was fun! In our wedding, I couldn't leave her out so I had her do a reading at the church during our ceremony. AND of course...whenever I need her or she needs me...we know that we are there for each other.

When my husband got laid off this past week, her husband was the one to get him a job right away. She has been helping him so much and I will forever be grateful to her. OH she even got my hubby to call her tia. lol. She is just too much!

SO Tia when you read this...don't cry. Just wanted to let you know how special you are to me. I love you with ALL my heart!!!! I hope you have a fabulous birthday and I hope you like your present. ;)

FINALLY!!!

The much needed LONG weekend has arrived!!!
This week has been EXTRA long, tough, stressful & hardly any sleep has been involved. Since my hubby got the new job (he started this past Monday). He has been doing very well. But since he is new at what he is doing, he is still at the learning stage. I have been helping him so that he could finish earlier so hopefully in no time, he will be a pro and we can go back to our normal schedule. So this week has been all about work, school, work, very little TV, work, very little sleep, work. Oh yeah and did I mention work? lol. I think you get the point. So when I say...FINALLY!!! I really mean it. I am soooooo happy it's Friday!!!! Work will probably let me leave early today. YESS! and then I can take care of things at home. I think I may surprise my hubby tonight with his favorite restaurant as a treat. We deserve it! He deserves it! OH a very good reason why he deserves aside from being a hard worker... he brought me flowers on Wednesday night. He always does this but I love how he brought them on a Wednesday when we were having such a tough week. It made my week go a little smoother.

OK...so for our plans this weekend.
Tonight dinner & a movie.
On Saturday...we will be getting tints for his new car (he had a company car before and we had to buy a new one). It's my tia's (aunt's) birthday so hopefully we can do something with them. I know exactly what I am going to get her but I can't write it just yet because she reads my blog. lol. I will though next week.
On Sunday...we will be having our BBQ/Pool Party at our home. Family & Friends are coming over. Can't wait!
On Monday...I don't work. But most likely the hubs does. I will tag a long. Try to help him as much as I can so that he could finish early and then some relaxin' with my favorite man.

I wish ALL of you a VERY HAPPY Memorial Day Weekend!!!!
Let's remember & honor those who are very brave and have protected us.

Dancing with the Stars Finale

There you have it...Shawn Johnson & Mark won this season!!!!
I always knew that she was going to be a runner up. She knows how to do the routines. No matter how tough it was for her, she always came through with high scores. Hello?!?! She has a GOLD metal for crying out loud. lol. She did have an adorable personality, which makes you love her even more. Now...Melissa Rycroft is a good dancer but not better than Shawn. That's a given.

But Gilles Marini & Cheryl?!?!?!
Oh boy...they were awesome together!!! I loved to watch them dance!!! Every single one of their performances were top notch. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for Shawn but so sad that Gilles didn't win. He didn't have any dancing experience (or so they say) and he was awesome!!!

Daily Inspiration

I received this email from my cousin today and I thought it was so me. Anything that is uplifting and positive always gets my attention. I read it. I loved it! I wanted to share it with ALL of you just in case you might need it or if you love it just like me.

Real optimism is aware of problems but recognizes solutions; knows about difficulties but believes they can be overcome; sees the negatives, but accentuates the positives; is exposed to the worst but expects the best; has reason to complain, but chooses to smile.

Friend Making Monday

Yay! It's back on today. There was none last week BUT this week we are back and running. I have been joining in on the fun for a few weeks now and I have to admit, I have made some pretty amazing online/blog friends. Thanks Ladies!!!! And thanks to Kasey over at All that is good for making it ALL happen!!! :)

If you want to know what it's all about, check out the rules HERE.

Today's task: Copy and paste these questions to your blog and give them your own answers.

  1. You wouldn't be caught dead where?: anywhere that makes me feel uncomfortable or grossed out.
  2. Do you have any hidden talents?: if I do...they are so hidden that I don't even know.
  3. Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at: planning events & finding a quick solution to any problem or situation.
  4. Name two things you consider yourself to be very bad at: complicated math & science. yuk! To think, I use to love it in high school.
  5. Have you ever won a trophy?: Yes. I have won a few in dance and when I was in the honor roll in school.
  6. Name one thing not many people know about you: I actually enjoy cleaning my house. lol. I know it sounds funny and most people hate it but I really like it. I put on some good music and take care of business. I don't take very long so maybe that's why I enjoy it.
  7. Name your earliest memory: My first birthday party. It was held at a nearby park. I remember being carried in by my mom. I remember I was wearing a pretty dress. And I remember it was Strawberry Shortcake theme.
  8. What was your favorite musical group in jr. high?: Normally I have a ton of favorites, I guess during those times my favorites consisted of Janet Jackson or Mariah Carey.
  9. What was something the worst roommate you ever had did?: I have never lived outside of my parents house till the day I got married to my husband. I have always had my own room and bathroom. And my husband is great to live with. He is picky about the same things as me so its helpful for me since he is not a mess and he picks up after himself.
  10. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?: a pediatrician or a teacher. I wanted to basically do anything that dealt with children and helping them. And that's exactly what I am working on doing. I am getting my Masters in Mental Health Counseling and Family & Marriage Therapy. I want to mostly deal with children. Also, I want to help parents be better parents to their children.
  11. What was your worst dating experience?: I had met a guy online but it so happened that he was my cousins childhood friend. I had never met anyone online because I was always skeptical but since he knew my cousin, I thought it was okay. I called my cousin and everything to make sure that this guy wasn't a psycho. lol. Well anyways after months of chatting online and on the phone...we planned on going out. We met up. When I saw him, he wasn't that bad. He was just VERY short & VERY shy. He wouldn't talk. He VERY boring. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I continued talking to him. Over the phone, he seemed super sweet and cool but in person "my goodness" totally differently person. We did form a friendship but he made me feel really awkward whenever we would hang out so our friendship faded fast. My cousin still had a kick out of it till this day because that the guy was like that with everyone. Poor guy.
  12. If you were about to die what would your last meal be?: how morbid. I try not to think of such things so I have no idea. I guess whatever I am craving or my favorite meal.
  13. Who is the most important person in you life?: I am going to cheat on this one because I can't only name one. SORRY! My husband & my immediate family!
  14. If your house was on fire what 3 things would you grab on your way out?: My husband would be grabbing me out. So I would take our Johnny, ALL our pictures (this includes: laptop, scrapbooks, albums), a plastic bin I have with ALL our important stuff in it.

Nine...

HAPPILY Married months!!

I wish I could back to that same exact moment. :::Sigh::::

Last night we ended up going alone on a classic date night. We went to watch the movie, Angels and Demons at the drive in. We like to go there from time to time because we really like the drive in. It's romantic and in my opinion better than the movie theatres. As promised, the movie review is eh, alright. The movie was entertaining. It did have us at the edge of our seats in certain parts. It was suspenseful. But I don't know it wasn't anything like the first movie (Da Vinci Code). It was good. I do recommend you watch it because it was good, good acting but to me...it wasn't amazing like I had expected.

Angels and Demons

Since the movie theatres have been playing the preview of Angels and Demons (probably since last year)...we have been waiting for May 15th to arrive. We will be watching it tonight over at our favorite, Cinebistro. Hopefully our besties will be coming along with us. If you have not seen the preview for this movie, you can check it out HERE. Like always...on Monday, I will let you all know our review on the movie.

Some Good & Bad News

Being the optimist person that I am, I always tend to see the bright side of things. I have some good news to share and just one bad news. None the less it is still bad news. BUT the rainbow has already came out and the rain will hopefully stop coming down. OK first I will mention the bad news and then I will mention ALL the good news...that way you won't end my post with a frown, instead you will end it with a smile.

BAD news: My hubby got laid off yesterday! Yup! The company he works for has been really slow for the past year. He works for a construction company and well we all know how bad construction has been hit with this economy. The company I work for works directly with them so I know how bad it is, especially since I work in the accounting department and I see the numbers. He worked for them for about 3 1/2 years. I am not going to lie when he first told me the news, I thought he was joking. I never thought it would happen to us. Tears came down my face as I told my mom and my father in law. As my hubby came back into my office and noticed that I was crying, he told me to stop crying that everything was going to be fine, to trust him. For a second, I hated the company he worked for and everyone there. But then I started thinking...that's where we first met. I thank God that he did work there because I met the man of my dreams and we are now happily married. I do not hate them, I thank them for bringing us together and for making him last as long he could in that great position he had. I'm sad, I'm hurt that we will no longer work together but everything happens for a reason....and the reason is now in my good news! :)

GOOD news: The minute my husband got laid off yesterday, he called my aunt's husband. We always had a plan B. He didn't even hesitate. He didn't even have his severance check and he was already getting another job. That's one of the many qualities that made me fall in love him. He has so much determination, positive, strong will, and he is an extremely hard worker. He left the company with his head held high and off to train in another job that same EXACT day! I still can't believe how fast things got taken care off, I thank God that he was there every step of the way and he is continuing to push my husband forward. In this new job that he will officially start on Monday, he will be getting paid a lot more. So that's definitely even more good news!

And for more good news...IT'S FRIDAY!!!! It's Pay day!!!! We are going on a date tonight to celebrate all the good news & I know it's going to be a WONDERFUL weekend!!!

I wish ALL of you a wonderful weekend full of smiles, laugh and rest!!! :)

Mother's Day Wkend Recap

Saturday
We had a Mother's Day Pool Party. My mother in law wanted to spend her day out in the pool with her kids and grand kids so we did just that. We enjoyed the beautiful day out in the pool, had some delicious snacks, drinks and a yummy dinner. All of our parties or get togethers always involve playing domino's. My partner was my sister in law. We make a perfect team. Our motto is playing and not taking serious like the men do and guess what? We beat everyone! Ha! :)

Here are some pictures from our dayMy mother in law with her 2 boys

My mom wanted to spend Mother's Day at the beach. So we did just that. My aunt and her clan came along with us as well. The day again was beautiful! It was beach PERFECT! The water wasn't even cold, it was perfection! It was H-O-T outside so maybe that's why. After a long day at the beach, we went over my grandma's house. We spend some time with her. She loves it when ALL of us come over. My hubby installed a lamp that my aunt bought her. So that made her day!!!

It's Friday I'm in love

Today we DID NOT go to the gym. I know tell me about it. But instead we stayed in cuddling. Ahhh so hence my title today, it's Friday I'm in love. I am so happy it's Friday and I even more happy that I stayed in bed an EXTRA 2 hours with my hubby cuddling. The best I tell you... :)

Click HERE to listen to The Cure. Friday, I'm in love.

Plans for today is basically just do groceries and our wkly cleaning. Tomorrow we will be celebrating Mother's Day with my hubby's side of the family. My mother in law wants to do a BBQ/Pool Party. All of the family is going over so it's sure going to be a looong Saturday of fun. So excited about that! On Sunday, we will be waking up early and taking my mom, dad, sisters and brother out to eat breakfast. Then after breakfast it's entirely up to my mommy to decide what she wants to do.

OH...Did I mention that my mom, dad and little brother are now going on the cruise with us?!?! I don't think I did. Well they are!!!!! They have never been on a cruise, so I am happy they are going with us!!! We are now trying to convince my grandma and grandpa to go but it's not looking like they will be going. So excited that my mom and I have a reason to shop. Ha! This morning she was already asking me when we were going to start getting new bathing suits, sandals and dresses. I can't wait!!!!!!

To ALL the mommy's out there...

Get up and Go!

"In simplest terms, a leader is one who knows where he wants to go, and gets up, and goes." -John ErksineSparkpeople Translation: "Do you know where you are going? If you want to be a true leader, you must have a vision. Whether you want to be a leader of your own life or in the life of others, having a vision is crucial. Knowing where you want to go is the first step to being a successful leader. The next step is to actually get up and go. Too often people think they are being a leader by simply telling others about their vision. This is not the case. If you are not taking action and showing others how important it is to get up and go, you are not being a true leader. If you don’t know where you are going or how you want to get there, it is time to make a plan. Listen to you dreams…they are possible. If you know where you are going, start being a true leader and get moving. There’s no better time than NOW to get up and go!"

Gym Update: Today was a tougher day to get up. UGH! Instead of the 15 minutes I mentioned yesterday, I think it literally took me about 45 minutes to get mentally set on working out. I did wake up at the time I was suppose to but I was way too slow and totally sleepy. But I did it! I got up, got dressed and went...slow but I still went. I did 3 miles today. Overall, I worked out great but I am starting to get a little tired. I hope to overcome this and move on. I have goals to accomplish, don't have time for any obstacles in the way.
On other news...I CAN NOT wait for tonight's 100th episode of Grey's Anatomy. I have been a little backed up on my episodes but hopefully when I get home tonight I can catch up right before tonight's show. The wedding! Yes...Meredith and Derek are getting married! Yay! They have even created an account on The Knot. To see their wedding website go HERE.

NEVER GIVE UP!!!

"It’s hard to beat a person that never gives up." -Babe RuthSparkpeople Translation: "Do you know someone that never seems to give up? No matter what happens they keep going. Take a minute and think about trying to beat someone that never gives up. Even losing and failure is a kind of victory for some people. Try to look at life with a perspective of learning as much as you can from every situation and you might find that giving up shouldn’t ever be a choice. Keep trying and using those lessons of failure to build a solid foundation and victory will be your sweet reward!"

Gym Update: Well...today was not easy getting out of bed. At All! Once I got up and ready to go, I was already mentally set. I did 3.10 miles. I feel wonderful!!!!! Since I reserved the cruise yesterday I have more motivation to get bikini ready. lol. The entire time I was working out, I kept on thinking about the cruise. Now I just need to work on the getting out of bed part. I want for it to be easier for me. I mean it's only the first 15 minutes once the alarm rings that kills me and then once I am dressed and ready to go, I'm good to go. I guess I just have to focus on the outcome at the moment. But let's face it, who really thinks that when the stupid alarm wakes you up from a wonderful cozy sleep at 5 AM. Ha! Definitely not me...but I will conquer it!

I will NOT give up!!!!

Yipeeeeee

Reservations have just been made!!!! YAY!!! I just booked a cruise for our 1st Wedding Anniversary & my hubby's birthday. I have been eyeing this cruise date for a while. Been seeing the prices going way way down and when I opened my email today...I saw a special deal from Royal Caribbean. I just knew I had to reserve it. Their sale is called the "WOW" 2 day sale. It is only happening today and tomorrow. They are allowing you to reserve a cruise with only 50% deposit & they are giving us $100 onboard credits. We can use those credits for drinks, spa, photos, basically anything that charges onboard. You can not even imagine how excited and happy I am right now! I have a smile from ear to ear. I am so giddy! :)

Anyhow, so I reserved us a Balcony Suite for an incredible price. IF you love cruises, I suggest you check out their deals. Their promotion is for ANY cruise after August and the deal only last till tomorrow night.

Pool Days & Updates

This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago. It was a HOT Saturday morning and we decided to enjoy our pool. We had some family and friends over. And in a couple of hours it was a pool party! We had lots of fun!!! While I went back indoors really quick so that I can take pictures of everyone..hubby followed me & I told him, "Quick, let's take one together." You know the ones we couples always take because we do not have anyone to take them for us. We have become pros at taking pictures of ourselves together stretching out our arms. lol. And there you have it.....

Mr. JL & Mrs. JL

Caption on the photo: He's always the reason behind my smile. So very true! :)

School Update: I went to school yesterday. I was so excited. I went to my first class. Met up with my bestie Jessica and then we waited for our other classes to start. As I went to my second class, it was cancelled. But get this...since my second and third class on Monday nights are with the same professor...they were BOTH cancelled!!!!! I was so mad! Normally, I would very happy to get a day off but hello?!?! it was my first day. I love first days! Oh well...we will always have next Monday.

Gym Update: I didn't go to the gym yesterday since I had school. But I did do my weekly weight in and I lost 2 lbs. Yay! So we are back to the AM workouts. Next week hope to have lost another 2 or 3 or heck even 5!!! ;)

Weekend Recap

FRIDAY
We (my girlfriends & I) got our hubbies to watch, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with us. Even though to be honest with you, they did want to watch it. My sisters came along with us. Russ (Indy's hubby) went early to get all of our tickets and then we all just meet up there. The movie was exactly what I thought it would be...GREAT! We loved it! The men did too. Critics graded it a bad grade...we REAL people grade it an A. We recommend you go watch it!! After the movies, we went over Monique's parents house. They were taking care of Audrina while mommy & daddy went out with us. I was able to feed her. She is getting so big! After Audrina went to sleep, we went on our way. We dropped off my sisters and then went home. It was a great Friday with our besties.

SATURDAY
We stayed home and took care of things around the house. Hubby took a nap while I finished cleaning up. Monique's mom wanted us to watch a movie, The Ultimate Gift. We watched it and again we loved it! It had it a very good message behind it!!! If you would like to see a preview, check it out HERE. Later at night, we went on a date and we got home pretty late.
SUNDAY
We were going to go to the beach but since we had gone out the night before and got home late, we ended up sleeping in. Then watching movies. lol. Yes...we watch a lot of movies. While watching a movie (forgot the name) my aunt called me and told me that she and her clan were going to pass by to hang out with us. That was such a surprise but a good one. We love having guest over especially ones that hardly come over. I baked some quiches...they didn't last. Everyone loved them. I bought them at BJ's. They are really yummy and very good when you have guests over. We played some Domino's and then we ordered some pizza for lunch. My mother in law finally came after a shopping trip and wanted to do our pedi's. She does the BEST pedicures!!! While my aunt got her pedi, I cooked dinner for everyone. My aunt, hubby and the kids didn't leave till 10:30, it was fun. I hope they make it a habit to come by more often.

And well today..Monday. My favorite. lol. School starts tonight. I am kinda nervous. Don't know why. I guess it's because I want to graduate with distinction and that means I can't get more than 2 B's. Yup....2 B's. lol. So I am going to bust my butt to get it done.

Hope all of you have a GREAT week!!!
