Movie Review

As planned, after Christmas Brunch at my mom's, my hubby and I went to see "Marley & Me".
I grade it 2 thumbs up, A+
It was such a cute, funny, emotional movie. Yup all in one. The movie made us laughed, we were 'awwwing', we cried, we laughed some more, we cried some more...and then when the movie was over, I immediately called my sisters and told them that they HAD to see it. Also, when we got into our house, the first thing I did was run up my Johnny, give him a hug and kiss and tell him he was the best dog in the whole wide world! Even though I tell him that every single day...after watching this movie, I had to shower him with love.
If you haven't seen it already, go this weekend and I promiose you that you will love it!

The festivites don't end...

After a wonderful looong Christmas celebration, now its time to get things done for our big 2009 New Years Bash. This will be our 2nd time doing New Years HUGE at the FIU Ballrooms. The theme this year will be Hollywood nights, so everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favorite Hollywood stars. Can't wait to see how everyone will dress. Yesterday, we went by to FIU to drop off ALL the decorations and drinks. Boy oh boy do we have a ton of things...well we ended up starting the decoration process. The ballrooms are all set up with their tables, chairs, dance floor, bar, candy station, and food station. We did the decorations for the main ballroom and tonight we will finish the kids ballroom. Their theme will be High School Musical and they will have movies playing for their entertainment, so that their parents can dance the night away. Thankfully, since we have had everything well planned we are almost done. All we have left to do is finish doing the platters, put the grapes in their baggies, and inflat balloons. Not much and we still have 2 1/2 days left. Phew! :)

2008 has been a year of firsts for my hubby and I, its been one long incredible year for us both! So many beautiful memories...now we are looking forward to another wonderful year in 2009! Something tells me that 2009 will be EVEN BETTER!

2 YEARS AGO TODAY...

I met the man of my dreams. From the VERY 1st conversation we shared together, I knew he was Mr. Right! In that very first conversation/night, I was able to see that he had a lot of the qualities that I wanted in a partner. He was funny, sweet, polite, responsible, family oriented, good manners, respectful, goal oriented, ambitious....and then of course he was tall (6'2), beautiful blue eyes, nice hands, and he was Cuban. I had to throw in that Cuban part bc I have always dated guys from other places but never had dated anyone from my background. We talked sooooo much that very first time, we danced, and we even went out afterwards to get to know each other even more. The entire time, he never tried anything slick on me, which I have be honest...guys now a days always try to move a quick one on you. Everything was so innocent and so perfect. Everything I had always dreamt on, I knew he had existed, I just hadn't found him until December 14, 2006. We made it official on December 17, 2006 (2 yrs ago today). Thats when we shared our first kiss and thats when he told me that, "I was his girl".
So today...is a VERY magical and meaningful day for us!

:)

This time last year we were getting things ready to start remodeling our 1st home together. We pretty much did EVERYTHING from A-Z. I actually loved putting it together and can't wait till we do it all over again in our future house. :)

So Happy 1st year of living together in our home to us! This week we have tons to celebrate. I have a few things up my sleeve to make our days extra special and romantic.

Friday, December 12, 2008

Ahhh at last, it's FRIDAY!

Have I mentioned that I looooove Fridays! This week has been one loooong exhausting and stressful week for me. I plan to relax and totally unwind. :)

Today we have planned to hang out with our very own Indy & Russ. Since we both got married we haven't really hung out and much less have we had our fabulous double dates. So tonight we are going to make up for lost time. We will go out to dinner and then we will go to watch Four Christmases. Yay! My favorite a Romantic-comedy...and who better than Vince Vaugh and Reese. I am hoping for some good laughs and good times.

Tomorrow we will be going to my mom house to install my sister's surround sound (well my handy man hubby will do all the installing; I will be hanging out w/ my mom). After we all done there, my sister and little brother will be spending the night at our home bc on Sunday it's my nephews birthday party and everyone is going for the celebration.

A pic from our movie tonight....can't wait!!!!

Hip Hip Hooray!!!

Today I had a very productive lunch hour. I went by my school to see if my diploma was ready to get picked up and sure enough it was ready. Yay! It looks so nice! So then I went to the registrars office and reapplied for the Master's Program in Mental Health Counseling. I turned in all my required paper work that they needed and now I am all set. All I need to do now is sit back and wait till they call me for my enterance interview. I hope that its early next week so that I can register for Spring and have everything in on time.

Special Dedication
I wouldn't have been able to have done any of this without my mom, my abuela and my wonderful husband. These three have pushed me beyond my own expectations. I owe them a lot! I always told my mom not worry that I was going to be bringing home that diploma and I just did. Thanks Mom! I love you! And like my abuela would tell me, "Con Dios TODO se puede". At my graduation ceremony back in October, my husband told me that he wanted to see me graduate with my doctorate so...here I go...the road ahead is not going to be easy, its going to be long and difficult BUT with dedication and determintion I will do it and of course like my abuela says, with God on my side EVERTHING is possible! I love you all of you! Thank you for ALL your support, love, and guidance!

New Year Invites are...

out and in the mail!!! Yippeeee! They should have been long gone but it took for ever to get them finished. Hopefully, now everyone replies and lets us know who is coming on time.

I can't wait, this year should really be better than last years party since we had more time to plan for it and more people are coming (the more the merrier).

New Years Party Check list
  1. buy more alcohol
  2. figure out which hollywood star we are going to dress up as
  3. finalize the food menu

Hello December :)

I love December...why? bc I love Christmas!
It's such a happy holiday...this past weekend we already did our fall cleaning and got our home prepared for the holidays. We bought our first Christmas Tree and bought all of our new ornaments...I love how it came out!
So...our Thanksgiving was a success. We spent it with both of our families at the park. We wanted to do something a little different this year and thankGod it all worked out great! It's also great that we get to do holidays with both of our families together because it makes things so much easier and nicer. We went early to the park, got all of our tables and enjoyed a day in the park. Around 2 everyone started to show up with all the yummy food. My step dad brought in the thing (containers) that keeps the food warm & everyone was either playing dominoes, playing softball, or just chatting away. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving! The Adults loved it and needless to say the kids did too! I am really greatful for our families, our health, and our happiness!
Looking forward to all of Decembers Events....
Noche Buena
Christmas Morning Brunch at my moms
and our famous New Years Party!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the appointed time
for focusing on the good in our lives.
In each of our days,we can find small blessings,
but too often we overlook them,
choosing instead to spend our time paying attention to problems.
We give our energy to those who cause us trouble
instead of those who bring peace.
Starting now,
let’s be on the lookout for the bits of pleasure in each hour,
and appreciate the people who bring love and light to everyonewho is blessed to know them. You are one of those people. On Thanksgiving,We are thankful for you.

We wish you a VERY Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Be safe and have fun!

Birthday Plans

My birthday celebration starts tomorrow. My husband will be taking me out to dinner and he says he has a few surprises lined up for me so I am super excited about that. :)

On Saturday morning-we ALL (family & hubby) will be headed to Key West. We haven't been there in a while so we figured to go spend some quality time with the family on my birthday and my Step dad's bday (we share 11.16). We already reserved our rooms and we plan to do it all. We will start by having breakfast at our favorite Cracker Barrel and then probably renting some scooters. Hopefully it won't be cold and we can actually get a little bit of a tan.

Hubby & I both took Monday off from work so we will spend it at home with Johnny, relaxing.

Next weekend we will celebrate my birthday with the rest of the family and our friends.

I can't wait!!!!!!! :)

Eventful Wkend

Wow...talk about being tired!

My little brother who just turned 8 (this wkend), is my pride and joy. I spoil him rotten, I admit it! I wanted to make him an extra special birthday this year, since this is the first year away from him (not living in the same house). So...I brought in all my little troops. Jose Luis and I have a total of 8 nephews and nieces...out of those 8, we picked up 4 and took them to the movies with us along with my brother and sisters. We had our hands full! We saw Madegascar 2, it was really funny and cute! The kids all loved it! After that we took them all to Dave and Busters for some arcade fun. We got them each their own power cards and let them use it how they wanted. They loved the freedom and the few hours of arcade fun time. I have to admit, it was HARD keeping an eye on all of them. Thank God my sisters were there with me bc they helped us watched them.

Afterwards-I took all the kids (4 of them) to our home. We ordered some Pizza, let them play with the playstation, watch another movie and hang out. They were having so much fun! I even baked them some cookies and after their showers when they were ready for bed, I gave it to them with some milk. My brother is use to our special treatment because he has sleeped over before BUT my nephews were in heaven. They all had a great sleepover party...

to make it even more fun...the next morning I made them their favorite...pancakes! After breakfast, we all got ready and left for round 2...the park. Since My mom wasn't with us to celebrate my brothers birthday, she wanted to do something with him, so all of our family went to Tropical Park and we had some fun! We got home around 6pm, again made the boys take their showers, bath my neice (because she is only 3 yrs. old), made them some dinner, checked their homework, and waited for their dad to pick them up.

boy oh boy...was I tired. I told my hubby that I think we should only have one baby because they are A LOT of work. lol. of course, we have always said we want two but seriously no more than 2. He and I love kids, we always take them everywhere with us or have them over but this time they really drained us. lol. I had to even call in yesterday because my body was so sore, I felt like I was getting a flu or something.

Changeling Movie Review

Synopsis: Inspired by actual events that occurred in 1920s-era Los Angeles, Clint Eastwood's "Changeling" tells the story of a woman driven to confront a corrupted LAPD after her abducted son is retrieved and she begins to suspect that the boy returned to her is not the same boy she gave birth to. The year was 1928, and the setting a working-class suburb of Los Angeles. As Christine (Angelina Jolie) said goodbye to her son, Walter, and departed for work, she never anticipated that this was the day her life would be forever changed. Upon returning home, Christine was distressed to discover that Walter was nowhere to be found. Over the course of the following months, the desperate mother would launch a search that would ultimately prove fruitless. Yet just when it seemed that all hope was lost, a nine-year-old boy claiming to be Christine's son seemed to appear out of thin air. Overcome with emotions and uncertain how to face the authorities or the press, Christine invites the child to stay in her home despite knowing without a doubt that he is not her son. As much as Christine would like to accept the fact that her son has been returned to her, she cannot accept the injustice being pushed upon her and continues to challenge the Prohibition-era Los Angeles police force at every turn. As a result, Christine is slandered by the powers that be, and painted as an unfit mother. In this town, a woman who challenges the system is putting her life on the line, and as the situation grows desperate, the only person willing to aid her in her search is benevolent local activist Reverend Briegleb (John Malkovich).

This movie is a MUST see! It was AWESOME! My husband and I both grade it an A+. Angelina did great job with this role. You will not be disappointed! :)

History in the making

Yesterday Barack Obama (First African American) won the Presidency Elections by large. It just goes to show that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE with dedication!!!! He lead a good campaign and now its finally over, no more hate and negative advertisements! yay! Congrats to him and Biden!

I have to admit McCain spoke very good and classy! I enjoyed hearing what he had to say and not once did I think he was acting fake. Also, when they finally declared Obama our 44th President, it was nice to hear him speak. His speech was great!!!!

All we can do now is sit back, pray for the best and hope that all his promises will come true! Like our future President said - "the road ahead is long" but togther we will get through it because we are the United States! God Bless our land, the changes that are going to occur and May God bless ALL of our new government heads!

Election Day 11.04.08

Ahhh...election day! I never thought this day would come. All the advertisements were really starting to annoy me. Thank God I didn't go and wait in4 hours lines to early vote and waited till today because the lines went by SUPER dooper fast. From the moment we stepped out of our car till we got back into our car, only 50 minutes went by. And....now its ALL over! Thank God!
I hope and pray that WHOEVER is our next president, can be the president he was meant to be. That everything improves with our economy and that we can continue to try to make this a better U.S.

Sing like its 1984

This past Saturday, I went with my oldest friend (friends since I was 3 yrs old), Jessica to see New Kids On The Block. When she bought the tickets I knew right away that we would have so much fun because when we were little, we use to have EVERYTHING of them (dolls, tapes, bed sheets, trading cards, binders, folders, pencils, etc.). It was one loooong month or actually 15 yrs waiting to see them live but it worth the wait.

As soon as they came on stage, I got goose bumps. I felt like the little girl I use to be listening to their songs. We jumped, screamed, sang, laughed, hugged and remembered the good 'ol days. It was A LOT of fun! They still sung the same...Donnie & Jordan are still H-O-T and Joey is still a cutie.

To top off the night-my cousin Cindy was sitting one row right above us. That was so funny! We didn't have a clue as to that she was going with her friends...so sure enough we all took pictures together and had even more fun talking about when we were madly in love w the NKOTB!

I'll post pictures as soon as I upload them...

Congrats to my bestfriend Indy & Russ for getting married on 10.25.08!!!

Yippeee! :)

In a couple of hours I will be picking up my bestfriend (Indy) with another one of our close friend (Angie) and my beautiful God daughter to go do our manicure and pedicure for her big day tomorrow and we will be having some fun girl bonding. So excited! Since she is not having a bachelorette party because her daughter will be with us, I figured to still treat it as girly spa themed bachelorette party. I am getting them each a goodie bag filled with spa things (creams, nail polish, some tea lights, etc.) and giving it to them during our lunch.

Tomorrow I will up VERY early because the wedding starts at about 7:15am when the sun is rising on the beach. We are all praying and hoping that it will not rain because we do not want plan B. Her dream was to have the beach wedding and my fingers are crossed for them to have their dreams come true!

Best Wishes to the Future Mr. & Mrs. B

Other than that Jose Luis and I already have our costumes for next week. I will be a sexy cop and he will be my prisoner. Yay! :)

oooh and I still havent decided on option trips. Hopefully I can make up my mind over the wkend!

Hope all of you have a fun and relaxing wkend! XOXO

Tonight we are having a Sleepover...

We normally have my sister and brother sleepover and sometimes our nephews BUT today my father and my sister (from his side) are sleeping over. WooHoo! I love having guests over. I get to cook and be a host, I love it! I already spoke to my dad and he had a special request for dinner, they want anything that is pasta, so I am going to make him one of my specialties and to top it off I am going to bake them a cake. Since I hardly ever get to see my sister because she lives in California, I am going to have her help me cook and bake. She is only 11 yrs. old so I am sure she will have fun helping me around the kitchen. We will also probably either rent a movie or watch one from our collections.

Tomorrow we will be up early because it is my graduation. I have to be there by 8:30 am and its in downtown so we are going to have to leave our home really early. That only means that I of course will have to be up even earlier to cook breakfast for everyone.

Yippeee....

Monday Night Must See...

CONFESSION: I have been addicted to The Hills since it first started, actually since they were on Laguna Beach. I don't know why but its just one of those must see shows. lol.

After watching last nights episode, I starting thinking how cool it would be if Heidi left Spencer (since he is such a LOSER) and be friends with Lauren again...BUT I wanted to refresh my memory as to how bad it was when they stopped being friends to begin with. So I went to http://www.mtv.com and started to read the episode summaries. Bits and pieces started to remind me of all the drama and it was then when I read a really juicy one from season 2, episode 7 "With Friends like these". WOW! Talk about bad evil friends and how karma is unfolding itself NOW to Heidi.

If you too are addicted to The Hills, you can watch this episode on mtv's website. You will remember what a true bad friend Heidi really is and it's not about the rumors, its much more than that. Jenn, Heidi, and Spencers are bad people and should not get a second chance.

Ok aside from all the drama-I also got to see when Brody and Lauren first kissed. Adorable! I know they have gone through a lot throughout their friendship BUT I honestly think they are perfect for each other. He can be a little cocky at times BUT he tries his best to avoid the drama and is always looking out for Laurens best interest. I think they should try to be together once more BUT for real and not like they have tried in the past...they both need to be honest with each other and just get their happily ever after started already.

Childhood Obession

My bestfriend since I was 3 years old (Jessica) bought us concert tickets for NKOTB. WooHoo!!!!
You have no idea the obession we had with these guys and ALL their songs. I had EVERYTHING possible from them...the barbies, the bed sheets, pencils, binders, cards, games, etc. I was a fanatic! And I will be reliving those childhood memories with my bestfriend on Saturday, November 1st. We are so excited to be going together and seeing after so many years.
I'll update and let everyone know how the concert goes...Can't wait!!!!!

FINALLY!!!!

As you ALL may or may not know, I FINALLY finished my bachelors last December BUT my school only does the graduation ceremony once a year and it so happens to be in October.

Anyhow-I decided to take part of the ceremony for my grandmother and for my mommy. So yesterday I went to my school to pick up my cap and gown with my hubby. They had a party for all the graduates...some pizza, soda, pictures were taken for our slideshow and they even had some artists drawing pictures of us. It was fun and it FINALLY hit me that I am done with my bachelors and now moving along to bigger and better.

UP next-my masters in Mental Health. WooHoo! I definitely will be done sooner bc the program that I will be is a fast one and I LOVE my school so I will be happy to be back.

Our Wedding Vendor Review

  1. Coral Gables Congregational Church - B 3010 De Soto Blvd. Coral Gables, FL 305-488-7421. The wedding coordinator's names is Chely Llorens and the Rev. that married was Guillermo Marquez. When I first saw this church, I knew in my heart that I one day would get married there. So sure enough even before Jose Luis proposed, I took him over to this church and showed it to him. He too fell in love with it. This was the first vendor we booked and the whole process was great. Chely was very nice and very helpful in everything! Rev. Guillermo Marquez was a sweetheart and very funny. We clicked with him right off the bat. The only reason why I grade the church a B, was simply because the Rev. forgot to do the Arras in our ceremony. To some people it might have not been a big deal but to us it was. In our meeting with him a month before the wedding, we had specifically told him we wanted to do the Arras and in our rehearsal we reminded him and we even practiced doing it. I was kinda dissappointed in the fact that we did't get to do it BUT we moved on and we still LOVE the church. We were just sad that we didnt get to add it to our ceremony since we had prepared and planned for it.

  2. FIU Ballrooms - A 11200 SW 8 Street. When we first started planning our wedding, I never not once planned to do it at FIU. You see my step father works there and we always do our parties there BUT I don't know I just didn't see as it my reception location for our wedding. Well one day, my step father calls me to see the ballrooms as it was decorated for a fifteens with some very pretty draping that had never been done before. As soon as I walked in, I knew I wanted it there (as long as I had the draping...added expense). Well my step father was in charge of speaking to the guy in charge of the draping, they became aquinted and we were set. Since my step father is the supervisor there, we had a lot of perks and advantages! I loved how our ballrooms looked and I love our service because of course it was my very special 2nd daddy...the one and ONLY thing that I do not like about FIU ballrooms, it that since its in the University, there is no pretty grand entrance. BUT our driver made a great effort of making our entrance GRAND and upfront. :)

  3. A Matter of Taste - A+ 3816 SW 8 Street. Our great friends Pupi and Grisel have been working with my step father for years so they have established a great frienship and bond, meaning they treat us good each and every time they do a party of ours. I have tasted their food time and time again, and it is always DELICIOUS! Everytime we go in to talk to them for an appt, we end up being there for about 4 hours. Seriously! Our only request we told them was that we did not want chicken in our wedding and Grisel tells us, "you want churrasco?" and we were like, "Oh yes, our favorite" so sure enough we served our favorite food at our wedding. Everyone loved it! it wasn't your typical wedding food or small portions, it was just perfect! It was served it garlic potatos and veggies, cesaer salad, bunch of appetizers, their famous spinning palm tree, our cake, OPEN BAR, our beautiful linenes and excellent service. As a gift from them both to us, they rented us our R.R...that was so thoughtful and we will forever be greatful for it. Needless to say, we will ONLY be using A Matter of Taste in our future.
  4. Divine Delicacies - A+ 1659 SW 107 Avenue 305-554-4446. Even though our cake was included with our catering, our cake vendor deserves recognition for how awesome our cake tasted. we were extremely happy with how it came out and how it tasted. We still have family calling us to rave about how good our cake was. We had 3 different types of flavors...tier 1 (bottom) vanilla rum with dolce leche filling, tier 2 (middle) marble with chocolate filling and tier 3 and 4, chocolate with chocolate filling.

  5. Bella Festa Design, Inc. - A+ Gabriella cel phone:305-316-7336. I met my florist through my mom's friend at work. We met with her once and clicked. We loved her designs and ALL her ideas. She was definitely one of my favorite vendors, I left it all in her hands and she did a fabulous job! I was IN LOVE with my bouquet, my girls loved theirs, my centerpieces were just how I wanted them, and our sweetheart table was a dream.
  6. in our sweetheart table, they included some of these which we loved!!!! those are our 2 alter arrangements which later went behind our sweetheart table.
6. Premier Events Productions - A+ 283 SW 33 Street Yvan’s cel phone: 954-234-3325. Another one of my favorite vendors. He was SUPER nice and full of ideas. He and his son did our draping along with some lighting around the ballrooms. He treated us VERY well and they made our vision a reality. I loved the final product, the ballrooms are normally so plan and he made it look like a fairytale.
7. Frank Panaro Photography & Video - A+ on engagement pictures. B on wedding pictures because he missed 7 important pictures that he did not take, still pending a grade for video. 1059 NE 204 Terrace Frank cel phone: 305-951-2757. He is VERY nice and had worked with us on all of our wants. I was just a bit disappointed that he did not take some very important pictures. I just hope that our video makes up for those missing pictures.

8. DJ Alex Rodriguez - A 305-370-2833. He was recommended to us from our catering company and he did a good job at having our dance floor moving. Everyone was dancing the entire time, there was hardly anyone sitting down.

9. Alcira - A+ 305-205-3579. She did my hair and the hair of all my girls. She was great! She stayed with me all the way until I had to leave the hotel to make sure that my hair was perfect! She was on time and she was delicate with my hair. I will for sure be calling her for other parties to up do my hair!

10. Ana - A+ from Chanel 786-201-1992. She did my make up and some of my girls. She uses Chanel products and is just fabulous! I will definitely be going to her for any future parties!!!

11. Ania Bridal - A 305-551-0120. Ania was recommended to us from a friend in our family. I was in love with my dress and she was the one that made me try it on bc I wasn't really feeling it. She gave me the attention I was looking for. I also got my girls dresses from her. They were a decent price. The only thing was that the alterations were not included so that made the dresses a bi more costly but she had them altered there for about $25. She was very sweet and very helpful!

12. Alaun by Design - A+ this is where we got our wedding invitations. They were beautiful! I loved them!!!

I am sure that I probably used more vendors than this BUT I can't remember at this moment. If you may have any questions, just ask away and I will try my best to help you.

XOXO
